Physical demarcation
Your IT infrastructure is located in a clearly defined, closed area. Other customers or external parties do not have physical access to your systems.
Exclusively separated Colocation area for companies with increased requirements for physical security, access control and infrastructure separation.
With a Private Cage you get your own, physically delimited area within the PRIME DataCenter. Your servers, Racks, network components and Storage systems are spatially separated from other customer areas and are only accessible to authorized persons.
A Private Cage is particularly suitable for companies that want to operate their own IT infrastructure in the data center, but require more control, security and differentiation than with classic Rack-Colocation.
A Private Cage is an exclusive, closed area within a data center. In contrast to the classic Colocation, in which individual Racks are located in a shared data center area, with the Private Cage a separate area is set up with a physical demarcation.
This demarcation can be achieved, for example, through grid walls, access controls and defined access points. Several Racks, network components, firewalls, Storage systems or customer-owned infrastructure can be operated within this area.
The main advantage: The customer's infrastructure is additionally protected against unauthorized physical access by other parties who may have access to the data center but do not have access to the Private Cage.
A Private Cage goes beyond the classic Rack-Colocation and creates an exclusively assigned area within the professional data center environment.
With classic Colocation, companies rent individual height units, one Rack or several Racks within a shared data center space. The technical security is high, but several customer areas are located in the same environment.
A Private Cage goes one step further: The customer's own infrastructure is also physically separated within the data center. This creates an exclusive area that is clearly separated from the rest of the data center operations in terms of organization, space and access technology.
| Area | Colocation Rack | Private Cage |
|---|---|---|
| use | Single Rack or multiple Racks | Exclusively separated area |
| Physical separation | Rack lockable | Entire area additionally demarcated |
| access | Access to your own Rack | Access only to your own cage |
| Scalability | Extension with additional Racks | Expandable cage area as needed |
| Security level | High | Very high |
| Suitable for | Individual servers, smaller setups | Critical infrastructure, larger environments, compliance requirements |
Your IT infrastructure is located in a clearly defined, closed area. Other customers or external parties do not have physical access to your systems.
Access to Private Cage may be restricted to certain authorized persons. This allows internal security guidelines and compliance requirements to be better mapped.
Private Cages are particularly suitable for productive systems, business-critical applications, sensitive customer data and infrastructure with increased protection needs.
Within the Private Cage, Racks, network components, firewalls, Storage systems and cabling can be planned in a structured manner according to the customer's requirements.
A Private Cage can be designed for multiple Racks or larger infrastructure environments as required. This makes the model also suitable for growing IT landscapes.
The spatial separation allows access rights, maintenance processes and responsibilities to be organized and documented more cleanly.
A Private Cage is particularly useful if your own hardware is to be operated in the data center, but a generally accessible Colocation area is not sufficient.
For companies that want to operate customer infrastructure centrally, securely and scalably in the data center.
For providers whose applications must be permanently available, high-performance and physically protected.
For companies that want to outsource their own servers, firewalls or Storage systems without losing control.
For organizations with particularly high requirements for availability, security and documented access.
For companies where traceability, access restriction and physical separation are part of the security architecture.
For providers who operate their own hosting environments professionally and want to store them separately from other customer areas.
Operating your own physical servers in a professional data center.
Accommodation of several Racks in an exclusively assigned area.
Combination of own hardware, cloud connection, firewalls and Storage systems.
Setting up a secured second location for Backup, recovery or failover scenarios.
Operate business-critical applications with controlled physical access.
Housing firewalls, routers, switches and security appliances in a closed environment.
Digital security measures such as firewalls, network segmentation and access concepts are essential. However, when you have your own hardware, physical security also plays a crucial role. A Private Cage complements the technical security architecture with a clear spatial separation within the data center.
Access to Private Cage can be restricted to defined people. This prevents other customers, service providers or external parties from accessing the systems unintentionally or without authorization.
Different infrastructure components can be operated within a Private Cage. The specific design depends on the customer's needs, the number of systems, the required power, cooling, network connections and redundancy requirements.
For physical servers, bare metal systems or customer-owned hardware.
For switches, routers, firewalls and structured network architecture.
For central data storage, Backup systems or highly available storage solutions.
For firewalls, VPN gateways, load balancers or intrusion prevention systems.
For connections to carriers, cloud services or other infrastructure partners.
For a cleanly structured, comprehensible and maintenance-friendly infrastructure.
The setup of a Private Cage does not follow a rigid standard model, but is planned based on the technical and organizational requirements.
We record your requirements for space, Racks, power supply, network, security and scaling.
Based on your requirements, a suitable concept for the Private Cage and the necessary infrastructure will be created.
Access regulations, cabling, power supply, network connections and possible additional services are coordinated.
Once set up, the infrastructure can be put into operation, expanded and, if desired, combined with other services.
A Private Cage can be used as a pure Colocation area or combined with other services from PRIME DataCenter.
Accommodation of your own servers and hardware in the professional data center.
Optional operation, monitoring or technical support for selected systems.
Individual connection options for the Internet, carriers, locations or cloud environments.
Supplementary Backup and recovery concepts for mission-critical systems.
Combining your own hardware with flexible cloud resources.
Extensible security concepts for network, access and operations.
Building your own data center and operating it permanently is cost-intensive, complex and organizationally demanding. With a Private Cage, companies take advantage of the benefits of a professional data center environment while maintaining a high level of control over their own hardware and infrastructure.
PRIME DataCenter offers a solution for companies that need physical security, scalability and professional operating conditions without having to invest in buildings, energy supply, cooling, security technology and data center operations themselves.
A single Rack is a lockable cabinet within a shared data center space. A Private Cage, on the other hand, is an additional, physically delimited area in which several Racks and other infrastructure components can be operated exclusively for a customer.
A Private Cage is worthwhile for companies that want to operate multiple systems in the data center and place particular emphasis on physical separation, access control, scalability and clear security processes.
Yes. The specific design depends on the required area, number of Racks, power supply, cooling, network connection and security requirements.
A Private Cage offers an additional physical layer of security because not only individual Racks are protected, but the entire customer area can be separated separately.
Yes. In addition to servers, firewalls, switches, routers, Storage systems, Backup systems and other customer-specific infrastructure components can also be operated in Private Cage.
Depending on availability and technical planning, a Private Cage can be designed for future growth or expanded later. This should be taken into account in the planning phase.
For smaller companies, a single Colocation-Rack is often sufficient. A Private Cage is particularly interesting when several Racks, special security requirements or clear physical separation are required.
